Lilly pad surfing

Well, my travel companions, Doug and Shelley, seem to have forgotten about my travel experience. They visit Arkansas and California without me, their tour guide. They witnessed surfers, sea life, great weather, and I get stuck on this thing. Hmmm, perhaps I need to book my own trip without them. More news coming...

Jalapeno Dreamin'

Over the past month, Doug has been growing vegetables in his pot garden. Pretty intense operation he has going. I sit while he man's over his plants trying to understand why he sometimes comes outside and just stares at them. Literally, just staring away. At first when he brought these plants to my attention I didn't really know what the hell they were. So he sat me down as I was jabbering away how I haven't been traveling much these days. And I haven't seen Shelley what seems like decades. I have conquered so many territories in the time gap that I have missed Shelley. He told me to "pipe down". Pipe down", I exclaim!! What the, who the heck...OK OK I will shuddup and listen to him.

He continued and overwhelmed me with information about growing food, organic processes, times tables for growth, and when the expected first so called harvest. YAWN! I really need some rum at this point. Aaaarrgghhh...I asked him what kinds of food he is growing. He said tomatoes, basil, cilantro, jalapeno peppers (hot and mild) JALAPENO PEPPERS!! Woo hoo!! I remember those from my sailing days. As a matter of fact that's how I got this here peg leg. One of the crew mates and I were talking about how these peppers would go well with just about any type of food there is and give it a little spicy twist. As we're walking the ship, one of the crew mates was repairing the ship from a battle we got obliterated in. I slipped on a banana peel and wammo my leg got punctured by one of his tools. Ouch ouch ouch!! Medic said there was no hope and we must amputate. Yes, after that mishap rum became my friend. :)

Now back to the vegetables. As time passed, I started noticing the plants becoming bigger. And now they are showing blooms. the tomatoes actually have fruit appearing and that harvest most likely will be in a couple of weeks. But the real test is whether the peppers will taste just like I remember. More to come..Until then, eat, drink, and be merry!!

Shelley has been getting cabin fever and suggested I need a helmet. Well, not only did she create a crown for me, but she did it with Bucky Balls. Heavy little suckers on my cushy lil head. Glad it is flat! Aarrrgh!

My where abouts...

This is by far my most memorable experience. It was a absolutely beautiful day here at Point Loma which for those unfamiliar with California, is on the opposite side of the San Diego Bay in the Pacific Ocean. Yes, Pacific which is where I came to settle into the New World. I followed an accomplished explorer named Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542. Let's brush up on our history, shall we. Juan led the first European expedition to what is now the West Coast of the USA. I followed in his footsteps and was really excited to learn that I was going to visit him again. My heart was racing so Shelley had to calm me down as we approached his location. I couldn't wait to catch up on old times, hash out our plans to re conquer the west coast, and introduce him to rums he may not have had before. Alas, I can see his chambers....

What????? As we approached, my heart started to slow. Doug mentioned to me that he has been gone but I didn't know he meant forever. It was his resting place and to honor him the USA had created a monument in his honor of his importance. So, eventhough I was a little upset I felt uplifted knowing he was not forgotten. Cheers to you my friend, Juan. May this rum fill you with joy and eternal happiness!

While we were lolly gagging around the monumental area, we came upon a lighthouse which were the living quarters for the keeper guiding in vessels since 1855. In 1891, the light was extinguished and the keeper moved to another location closer to the water. The location of this house thought to be optimum, but the fog and dense clouds dulled the light which exposed it's flaw. Therefore a move was inevitable. So I hope you enjoyed a tidbit of travel through time. It is always a blur to me. I wonder why. "Hiccup!" Pardon me....

Happy New Year 2010!

I've been away for a little bit but I wanted to introduce the two fine individuals who include me in their traveling experiences so I am exposed to the world. It allows me to create these stories, be around friendly people and environments.

Say Hello to Shelley. This woman is amazing. She is such a joy to be around and makes me laugh. In many ways, her visions are extraordinary. She LOVES this band called the Beatles, loves to bake many different things.(you should smell her living quarters, whoa, it is wonderful) and she enjoys photography. This woman has many gifts and I am happy to know she is a part of my life. Thanks Shelley for taking care of me!

This young lad is Doug. Him and Shelley make a cute couple but I think I could take em if I wanted too. Aaaargh, don't tell him that. He's a good person however. As you all know, interests are abundant i.e. running, bocce, petanque, flyfishing..etc but it's his kind heart that I appreciate. He can't cook as well as Shelley, but when he does the aroma at his abode is pretty good too.

I love both of these people and they rescued me from, what could have been, a lonely world. Thank you both and looking forward to the adventures ahead of us. Cheers from the bottom of my rum bottle.

Aaaarrgh!!
